FS Passengers / TrafficTools ? - highlander - 12-01-2006

Hello!

FSPassengers is fantastic, by the way, but I wondered if it was possible an update to be released for it to allow it to automatically add AI traffic,
based on flights you make for your airline?

Think like this - rather than just being allowed to own one of each paint scheme for your aircraft, you can buy multiple copies of the one aircraft,
and give each one a unique registration (so you could own, say, 10 C182's in exactly the same paint scheme). NOW - based on the flights you've made,
FSPassengers could make a flightplans.txt for your airline and use TrafficTools to build it.

This would be a nice addition - I fly from San Francisco Intl. to a number of smaller regional airports in California; everywhere from KMRY to KFAT
and in between, using a C182 in a paint scheme I designed for my virtual airline. FSP takes notes of which airport I mainly fly FSP flights from, and
which airports I mainly fly to, and generates AI traffic to simulate the movements of the other pilots who work for me.

Taking it further, the Company Manager could also be used to set schedules for flights, and your airline's income is affected by which routes and
timings you select, but that could turn the whole thing more complex than it really needs to be.

It should be perfectly workable, and would add a bit more realism to FSP. And for those who don't like it, an option to disable this feature would
give them a way to opt out.

Whaddya think?

Kind regards,
Graeme

Yeah I though of this too, I dont know If Dan likes this idea...

Re: FS Passengers / TrafficTools ? - DeCarvalho - 13-01-2006

I think that should be the next logical step in this add-on...not being the pilot but being a pilot that belongs to a company controled or not by you
that flyies pre determined (by u or not) routes and gets paid etc....That should be great to see a full interactive airline where you are a pilot
trying to reach into a recognized position in the Pilots ladder....Wink

This was discussed in the past and I believe the consensus was that it would turn FsP into an Airline Tycoon clone.

If you checkout most people's sigs over here, it looks like this is happening already! Wink

Hey, whats wrong with Airline Tycoon?...Ah nevermind... Smile Anyway, yeah that would be something to think about, I personally would like to see it!
Also when I first bought FsP, thats what I thought it did, to tell you the truth...

Re: FS Passengers / TrafficTools ? - DeCarvalho - 13-01-2006

In my point of view that seems to be a logical step...a simulation of a company taking Flight Simulator even closer to reality.
But this is juts my idea...if the comunity doesnt agree with this i am perfectly ok with the current version Wink

I've always wanted this... But for now, FsP is as close to perfect as Dan can get it!

Re: FS Passengers / TrafficTools ? - Airliner - 14-01-2006

I posted something similar to this a long time ago. In fact, I've been in the process of making a more realistic airline simulation for about
3 years - on and off - after having used AirBucks, AeroBiz Supersonic, Airlines, Airlines 2, Airline Tycoon, Airline Tycoon Evolution, Airline6, Airpro 4.5 and Airpro 2000 - none of which fully satisfied me. Over the past year, it has grown into an FS addon-type of thing that should work well with FsP, though it's not
neccessary - it can be used with FS alone - 2002 or 2004.

Not only do you run your own airline - buy/lease aircraft, establich routes, etc. but your flights and those of all other airlines are constantly
updated and compiled by Traffic Tools into flightplans, so everytime you enter FS, things can be different. And, you can play at whatever
level you like - very simply running flights and setting routes or, you can take the "end of turn" notes, print them out and go modify the
airports with AFCAD to make things really realistic (each end of turn will list any changes made by airlines in terms of, gates
added/released; new routes opened, etc.).

It is fully configurable to whatever AI aircraft you have - just open the aircraft config editor and link each model to the airline, aircraft type
and livery description of your choice and the program will utilize them.

The demo will use only the default FS9 aircraft and airlines but, with the editors, it's possible to setup "scenarios" to include whatever you
want - an All VA scenario of selected VA's; an all PAI airlines and aircraft setup; a fully custom setup, etc. (I plan on having a PAI setup
shortly after the initial release - slated for; whenever it's done!) Your flight performance in FS will determine the effectiveness of your
routes and from time to time you may need to fly certain routes to boost their ratings and help your airline - or you can just overspend on
advertising! Smile

Anyway, enough on that. http://fsairline.proboards80.com if you want more. The front end is complete, the editors are done and the rest
of the thing is all mapped out and all calcs written - just need to "convince" the computer to do the rest (aka, lots of typing!).

Seems a great job. Hope you'll release it soon so that I can try it out! If you need any help I'm here with lots of spare time and good ideas
