Videos - Jason - 22-05-2011

All,
It's been a couple years since I've hung out around here. Did a rotation to Afghanistan then spent a long time catching up with my family and getting
back into the groove of things. When I got back, I started fresh with a new install of windows, etc... to include a new company.

I fly with default scenery and aircraft, and FSP is my only add-on so some of you will find these videos fairly boring Smile But none the less, here are a
few random videos.

Jason, first of all...thank you for your service to our country! I assume you are in the service, correct? Or, did you work for a contractor? Either
way, you and those who serve over there have my undying gratitude Smile

I can think of a few ways to unwind from the rigors of over seas, but flight simming?? Kidding of course. Very fine job on the vids, man Applause
I need to do some myself since I am now spending a little more time with FSX and got hold of that gloriously beautiful ORBX PNW scenery the other
day....WOW!

Well, I have to put my sim stuff on hold for a few days anyway. The ram crapped out on me yesterday. Plus, I finally decided to move away from the
Core 2 Duo E8400 and go with a Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0 Ghz and overclock that puppy as far as she'll go. Hope mine will be up and running by the weekend Smile

Again, good job!

Re: Videos - Jason - 01-06-2011

Joe,
Thanks. I'm active duty air force. 9650 is a very good choice for the 775 socket, I'm rocking an overclocked Q6600 and it has served me well for
over 3 years now. I'd like to see some videos of your scenery! I have FSX as well but I can't get it to run without locking up for several minutes at a
time, several times per flight, it's just too frustrating so I just run FS9 and I'm happy with it.

In FSX, do you have all of the sliders to the right, and have you done any tweaking? My E8400, OC'd 3.8Ghz, really struggled to run FSX with any
appreciable advances on the sliders, so I used Bojote's tweaker for FSX. It smoothed things out quite well. I also replaced the default trees with
Natural World trees....lower res. but still look nice. Bojote's tweaker makes changes to the FSX .cfg file based on your system, so you may want to
try it out to see if it works on yours. Plus, the tweaker makes a backup of your FSX cfg. before applying the tweaks.

The E8400 has run FS9 quite smoothly...with the exception of heavy cloud draw with REX high def clouds. That alone has always been the big frame
reducer at any given time.
