light panelty again - Bernd - 22-12-2005 Hello there, WHEN exactly does FSP check if your landing-lights and strobes are on or off? I switch them on at the holding point before entering the runway, switch off the landing lights at 10.000 ft, again on below 10.000 and the strobes off when leaving the runway. All the time I am getting penalty points because of the lights. What I am doing wrong???? Re: light panelty again - Drew - 22-12-2005 check out this FAQ http://www.fspassengers.com/?action=faq&question=34 Re: light panelty again - Bernd - 23-12-2005 I checked the FAQ, but I still have no idea why I am allways gettingt this light penalty. There it says one the one hand, you have to switch off/on the landing lights at TA, on the other hand at 10.000 ft. What is it exactly then (f.e. for TA 5000ft as normaly in Europe)? How does FSP recognize that I am entering or leaving the runway? Holding points, just the speed (below/over 30 kts), ....? Re: light panelty again - SWAFO - 23-12-2005 I have the penalty disabled. We use LL's to FL180, and kept getting penalties for lights. Turning off the penalty fixes all of this ![]() Re: light panelty again - MisterC - 23-12-2005 Yes, but it's not a solution ![]() As Bernd, i would like to know... Re: light panelty again - Drew - 23-12-2005 which plane are you using, or does this happen with all aircrafts? Re: light panelty again - MisterC - 23-12-2005 From the FAQ : -FsP detect when an engine is running if this is the case it then look beacon state. If they are off=penalty -FsP detect parking brake to decide if he's on taxi way, if they are ON and landing light and/or strobe are also ON= penalty -If you are taxying at more than 60kts FsP look strobe and landing light state if they are OFF=penalty (you are NOT supposed to taxi at more than 30kts) Re: light panelty again - CowlFlapsOpen - 23-12-2005 I had this question as well. I knew the formal requirements but the actual triggers eluded me. I was becoming obsessed with getting the strobes and landing lights off while moving within the dozen feet that exist between leaving the rwy and crossing the hold short line to clear the runway and vice versa. Looks like it is much simpler, To summarize: "if you are on the ground (or in the air below 10K) and travelling at more than 60kts, both strobe and landing lights must be on ("you are NOT taxiing, buddy, you are taking off!") and if you have the parking brake on--anywhere or any time--both lights must be off. beacon must be on whenever an engine is running. " Is that about right? I think I got caught once in a while because after I clear the runway, I stop for a moment and put the parking break on to contact ground, consult the airport diagram of taxiways, and clean up the airplane (flaps, xpndr, lights, lean for taxi/change condition levers to low idle, etc.). Truthfully, sometimes I get the penalty because the program simply misses that I have flipped the switch (I don't use the keyboard and have my switch panel on a second monitor). I think it occurs when the CPU is really busy and frame rates are low. But it is rare. |
