which freeware add on do you guys recommend for improving thunder and lighting?

Re: storm add on - Dutch64 - 09-04-2008

I had one from avsim once, called whitelightnin.zip i believe. It was quite ok. If you check that site you will find some addons which are really
nice, just try some and see which one you like best

Re: storm add on - Joeflyer - 09-04-2008

How about VirtualReality 2? I think you can get it from Avsim still. I need to look it up myselfSmile

Re: storm add on - fs2004josh - 10-04-2008

i dont understand the directions, little to confusing.

Re: storm add on - Joeflyer - 11-04-2008

Which part are you confused about?

Re: storm add on - fs2004josh - 11-04-2008

"1) PLACE THE FILES FROM THE ARCHIVE TO THE FS9 FOLDERS AS THEY APPEAR, RESPECTIVLY, THERE ARE 3 SETS OF
LIGHTNING BOLT TEXTURES, CHOOSE ONE AT A TIME. THEY ARE 16 BIT 565 FORMAT, UNPROPER EDITING MAY GIVE
UNDESIREABLE RESULTS."

- where are those 3 sets of lighting bolts; and where do you place them, in which folder.

PLACE THE WIND.WAV TO THE DESIRED LOCATION(s), CYCLING FS9 AND OR EDITING SOUND.CFG IF NEEDED.(see example)

- what do you mean "desired location" so if i desired to place the wind.wav into my texture folder and not into my main sound folder, will
that count? lols

TO INSTALL THE FLIGHT, PLACE THE 2 FILES FROM "VIRTUAL REALITY FLIGHT 2" FOLDER TO C:\MY DOCUMENTS\FLIGHT
SIMULATOR FILES*, TO ACCESS "VIRTUAL REALITY 2" FLIGHT in "SELECT A FLIGHT"/"SAVED FLIGHTS", OR PLACE TO DESIRED
LOCATION. YOU MAY NEED TO CYCLE THE THROTTLE CONTROL AND CAMERA VIEWS FOR THEM TO LOAD.

- okay? which files? place it in the main FS folder? because you have C:\MY DOCUMENTS\FLIGHT SIMULATOR FILES (which file, be
specific. when you place an s in files, it sounds like you need to place it in multi and specific folders)

to me, the instructions are not complete and in detail; i call it "half ass"

They are in the Effects folder in the Texture subfolder, correct? Copy them over to the FS9 main Effects folder. Pay particular attention to how Virtual Reality's
author structured the folders and subfolders. That gives you a good idea of where to place the filesWink

I am not able to look into my FS9 at the moment to view the main Sound folder, but when you see the Sound folder in Virtual Reality
structure, that means to copy the sound file into the main Sound folder. See the subfolders...Precip and Thunder? I would assume there
are the same subfolders in the main Sound folder of FS9. I will have to check that myself.

This is purely optional if you want to get a taste of the Virtual Reality product after you have made the installation. They are placed in the
Flight Simulator Files folder in "My Documents" folder where your other FS9 flight s/flight plans are stored. I never installed them the first
time I used Virtual Reality. I just installed all of the required files and experienced the lightning and sounds during a FsP flightSmile
