Asking for help: Flying Jets - dschoene - 15-03-2008

Hi,

Asking y'all for a bit of help. After finally reaching C6 I got meself a Jet - the default Learjet 45. But somehow i'm seem way too thick to fly these
things. Somehow every control input seems to be reacted to like one week later. Hunappy I do a lot of flying in russia where people don't know if ILS is
something to eat, most airports don't even have a PAPI. I tried my luck at Briansk yesterday and couldn't get the thing down, same went for Moscow Vnukovo today. Both I canceled because I racked up minus-point equalling the GBP of a third world country.

How did you guys learn to fly those terror-tubes. I can set down a turbo prop manually without anything, hell even without papi, but those jets seem beyond comprehension Hunappy How can one learn to keep control over these things? Using the saitek yoke & rudder btw.

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - Jambone - 15-03-2008

FS's Light Jets are notorious for poor handling, it's a lot easier to fly them in real life Wink

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - Valoran - 15-03-2008

Try the Veneviones (SP?) Citation II. It handles a lot more gently and it's really cheap for a biz jet in FSPax (around a mil each) Only weak
point is no VC. You can get it along with a gajillion liveries on AVSIM.

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - DBE - 16-03-2008

As a matter of fact: which jets are you actually attempting to land apart from the Lear?

VC? Huh

in my experience light-medium jets (such as Fokkers) are user-friendly Wink they're worth a shot. not sure if C6 covers them. they're MEJs

Just wondering...when did you fly one in real life? Wink

If I remember, the f70 is a c6 but the f100 is too heavy. You can also try the POSKY crj's and erj's if you are looking for freeware. I'm not
the guy to ask about payware.

VC=Virtual Cockpit as opposed to the 2d panel that comes with most aircraft.

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - Jambone - 16-03-2008

Joe...I watch air crash investigation and even the plane known for its poor handling doesn't decide to dive towards the ground of its own according on lift off Wink lol

Plus I flew a 737 sim and its easier than FS, as the controls are much more robust, so I can only imagine that applies throughout the industry...although being a pilot im sure you could tell me different as you've flown the light jets before.

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - Max Headroom - 16-03-2008

terror-tubes lol

Nice name..

think i'll rename our Embraer ERJ135 into 'Border-Line's Terror - Tube Cool

But - in fakt.. it's true.. the Embrear is harder to handle than our Airbus A319

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - dschoene - 16-03-2008

third attempt went pear-shaped as well. I'm absolutely too dense to handle it Hunappycannot say whay, but the default lear (for me) is un-flyable Hunappy

btw. CRJ-200's are really nicknamed terror-tube (Angströhre) in German Wink

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - Valoran - 16-03-2008

Try the Citation II. It handles a lot better.

There's more ILS approaches in Russia than Microsoft knows. Look on Avsim for the file "cis_ils04.zip". It adds missing ILS stations.
Vnukovo definitely has none but Bryansk and many more are just missing in FS9.

I am pretty sure their is a good reason why cocky little teenagers who play FS, don't fly real jets Wink

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - Jambone - 17-03-2008

Did you not read my second comment? And please tell me when you come across an incident where the plane rams the nose back into the runway as soon as you move the joystick even a little, not in real life, only in FS. Wink

PS. When I flew that 737 simulator, the captain in charge said I handled the plane better than some RL training pilots, ok that's one
point against me for being cocky but hey, im willing to shout my mouth off about that, but in general i'm not the "cocky little sh*t" kinda guy.

*Prepares to get slated by the "older and wiser" people, who are "always right" Rolleyes*

Re: Asking for help: Flying Jets - Valoran - 17-03-2008

Dude, I know how you feel right now. I'm 30 with almost 5 years of teaching experince and I still get treated like a 5 year old by the old
ladies I work with. It's really frustrating to know you can do something and do it well and have other people knock you just because you're
younger than they are. Don't back down!!
