Re: 1st official landing contest: October 2007 - Jambone - 19-10-2007 Just to ensure that information is valid, how about the need for a screenshot of your landing form needing to be submitted as well Re: 1st official landing contest: October 2007 - jer - 19-10-2007 Quote:Anastasios wrote: sure its ok just mouse over the vertical spd indicator before landing Quote:2nd contests are always shorter!i will resedule the 2nd contest on the 16 next month .... Then cancel the first contest of November I need at least 5 forms submitted to me. Re: 1st official landing contest: October 2007 - jer - 20-10-2007 None of you are not posting here for over 24 hours Anyone send me the landing results by pm before its over Re: 1st official landing contest: October 2007 - Drew - 20-10-2007 As your talking to yourself, maybe you should give it up as a bad idea?? ps, my landing was 17ft/min using fsx, so dont have a screen shot using fsp Re: 1st official landing contest: October 2007 - JanniCash - 20-10-2007 My $.02: The definition of the contest is too fuzzy for my taste. Just flying into a specific airport with whatever jet you like and comparing touchdown ft/min, what does that exactly say? Let me give you two scenarios: One pilot might land a 737 Classic in 20 kts crosswinds with gusts and poor visibility. He does it all manually with -60 ft/min, right on the numbers, straight down the center of the runway. Another pilot uses "clear skies" with zero wind, lets the autopilot get his 777 perfectly lined up and trimmed onto the glide slope, disengaging AP at 300 ft. He touches down at -40 ft/min. Which one would you call the better landing? In other words, unless you distribute a saved flight with an exactly defined custom weather and all that, only allow the aircraft to be changed and then put the results into categories per aircraft class, you are comparing apples to ... er ... orange juice? I am not saying the contest itself is a bad idea. All I'm saying is that the rules might not be ready to rush in and have the first contest. If it isn't working out (as it seems now) then you shouldn't be asking every 10 hours for people to join. If a contest is a hit, people will join with out being nagged to.
