Comforting Passengers - skenmy - 27-11-2005

I have always found it quite relaxing when the captain comes over the comms -> "Ladies and Gentlemen we are currently experiencing slight turbulence
aboard the aircraft at this time, we are currently climbing to avoid it" and similar things like that. Passengers in FsPassenegers get scared when
they encounter turbulence (my highest for turbulence is 19% so far...), so perhaps a short announcement from the pilot could reduce that a bit?
This could also be used in emergencies or when failures occur...

That would be nice. See my "Attendant/Ground Call system" thread for more information.

Re: Comforting Passengers - RonMac - 27-11-2005

Its like in hospital...they say that this may be a bit uncomfortable, actually is excruciating agony!

Re: Comforting Passengers - DBE - 28-11-2005

Not only nice: this would be great!!

And IMHO totally in-line with FsPax's philosophy.

Re: Comforting Passengers - skenmy - 28-11-2005

It also shouldn't be too hard to code Smile

The wonder-man that has coded this can surely find it in his unlimited time to put it in :D

Re: Comforting Passengers - Travis - 28-11-2005

Unlimited time, what unlimited time? Dan doesn't have unlimited time...half of it or more is being taken up by playing FsP. :p

I doubt Dan spends much time actually "playing" FsP! Wink

Never underestimate the time it takes to code what might seem "bloody obvious"! Smile

A big ditto here. I have some programming experience and it's rarely as easy as it looks (unless you don't mind the unforseen bugs...)

Re: Comforting Passengers - Airliner - 28-11-2005

Double Ditto here! (I'd say MegaDittos, but that would be stealing a line from Rush!)

While doing my airline sim, I wrote several formulas for generating pax loads - only about 10 lines total. BUT! Putting that all into the
program took pages!

Re: Comforting Passengers - skenmy - 28-11-2005

I too have coding experience guys Smile

"Too Much Time" is a very different phrase in Coding than it is in Real Life - beleive me. So far I have spent well over a year on one project I am
doing - and i don't calssify that as enough time yet (I haven't even launched the first release yet)

Re: Comforting Passengers - SaVas - 28-11-2005

Playing around with ASVe and setting it to hurricane, I wonder how 81% of the pax are OK with the turbulence? lol

Ive personally been on some flights in real life where anyone who was fine on the flight must have been on a heavy dose of valium and
bourbon.

For you guys with coding experience:

Why not email Dan and see if you can make your own modifications to FSP/help further create the program? That might be a possibility Smile

Re: Comforting Passengers - skenmy - 28-11-2005

Unfortunately I don't code in C or similar languages Smile

Re: Comforting Passengers - DanSteph - 28-11-2005

??? there is already such an announce in automatic belt when you encounter turbulence...
you must be in cruise with seat belt switched off then encounter turbulences.

Re: Comforting Passengers - SaVas - 28-11-2005

Hey now. I dont always like to make my pax wear their belts lol. *grins*

Especially when their satisfaction is only dropped by 9%
