Payware Traffic Add-On - Becks - 08-06-2006

I'm not a big payware person myself, the only payware add-on I own is FSP. However, I have some money to spend on some add-ons
and I think I want to invest in some AI traffic. Anyone have any suggestions? The big ones seem to be Ultimate Traffic and My Traffic. Can
any owners tell me how they affect frame rates? I am currently using some freeware AI traffic from Sur Claro but I think it's really having
an effect on my frame rates. Any feedback appreciated!

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - bergm - 08-06-2006

Whatever you do, don't get My Traffic. The ai traffic suck bigtime, texture and modelwise! I now have Ultimate Traffic and, while it's not perfect,
it's still alot better than My Traffic. There's supposed to be real good freeware ai traffic but I'm too lazy to add it all manually. lol

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - aristoteles - 08-06-2006

Ultimate Traffic is great, good models, nice repaints and real schedules, the best option, IMHO.

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - Dutch64 - 09-06-2006

And if you have plenty of time one day, replace all models of UT traffic by ai planes from Evolve and Aardvark Wink

thats what i did dutch, my AI is the posibly the best its ever going to get, now if only FS put my plane at the right gates when i landed Wall

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - timcclayton - 09-06-2006

I have to say that I struggled with Ultimate Traffic (some parts just didn't work properly despite me spending days reading manuals and trying to get
tech support - which was non-existent). Traffic 2005 works straight out of the box - no downloading, no fuss and that's the one I use.

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - the_nick - 09-06-2006

it is a matter of taste I have ultimate traffic and my traffic , I prefer more my traffic because you just have to install it and finish , and with
ultimate traffic you install and still you have to do other things wich I don't know what they are to work ( so for me ultimate traffic was a
waste of money)

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - Joeflyer - 09-06-2006

I have MyTraffic 2006 and am ok with it. I don't necessarily need to see perfectly modeled or textured traffic. It's a preference thing I
suppose. As long as the aircraft I own look great, I'm happy Smile

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - Becks - 09-06-2006

Thanks for the replies! I am leaning more toward Ultimate traffic as I read about it more. Now, time to look for some payware ground
mesh.

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - Captain_Smith - 09-06-2006

Traffic 2004 (Or different year) It is excellent and add's on all your fav. airlines in one easy click!

Good luck Smile

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - highlander - 11-06-2006

I use Project AI.

It's free.

You don't get quite as many airlines as you do with the payware packages, but if you just want something to replace the fictional Microsoft airlines
with real aircraft, real liveries, and real schedules, you can't go far wrong.

http://www.projectai.com

Download their installer, then download the model packages. Use the installer to install them (really easy, but can take a little while). Then
download the airlines you want, and use the installer to install these, too (tip - you can take the .PAI file out of all the airline packages ZIP
files and put them into one folder, then run the installer on all of them at once - saves a fair bit of time. Note that you can't do that with the
model packages, for some reason).

Yeah, it's a little bit of work, but it's rewarding, and it's free, leaving you to spend your hard earned cash on something else (i.e. a good payware
airliner)

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - Meco - 11-06-2006

Im curently dl'ing the ActiveSky 6 after much input from this forum regarding real world weather. And like Becks, I too am looking to update
my traffic needs.

What im looking for mostly is an add-on that will have the tower also call the speed changes needed to avoid those nasty sneaky planes
that insist on crashing into you from behind on final approach. A smarter tower as it were that does not allow planes to get into each
others way.

Because I always found it silly that the tower would vector planes into ILS all bunched up literaly creating a crash situation without calling
speeds. IE: turn to 315 for ILS at any speed you like and dont mind those other 3 planes 500 feet from you doing the same thing. nasty..

Wheres the spacing, wheres the row of planes all in proper seperation for final? In the real world when driving near a large airport like
CYYZ you can see the planes coming in like 2 mins apart and it looks like a ladder of planes in the sky.
Not 2 planes side by side racing for the runway first so the other gets the go around call.

So... does either "Ultimate Traffic and My Traffic" cover the need im looking for? or is there an other add-on I can get to solve this cry for
realism when trying to land?

Thanks in advance for any help.

And now I see my ActiveSky is finished downloading. time to install and see what all the hooplaw was about Smile

This is the package I was talking about earlier in the thread. There seems to be some confusion among people here. There are actually 3 main payware
traffic programs. Traffic 2005, My Traffic and Ultimate Traffic.

There is a good review of Traffic 2005 on Flightsim.com - http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/review/traf2005/traf2005.htm - that explains the
pros and cons of the other packages as well.

Re: Payware Traffic Add-On - bergm - 12-06-2006

If you want proper spacing either get aismooth (freeware) or radar contact(payware). Ultimate Traffic, My Traffic, and Traffic 2005 only add ai
planes. And alot of them. Without aismooth or radar contact getting a landing clearance is actually gonna become alot harder with planes being
everywhere especially at busy airports like KLAX or KATL.
