9 hour flight - jetdude43 - 24-03-2006 hi, what propeller aircraft can fly for 9 hours, if it can fly more even better if there isnt any il hav to swich to a small jet, im doin it in a small aircraft because i hardly ever use them so i guess i wanna see what its like. im thinking of maybe the twin otter but im pretty sure it cant fly for 9 hours. Re: 9 hour flight - jetdude43 - 24-03-2006 um, is ther any1 out ther that can anser me!!!!!!!!! Re: 9 hour flight - FsP Dennis - 24-03-2006 Hmmmmmm... Don't think there is any propeller aircraft there can fly 9 hours Re: 9 hour flight - fruitfly - 24-03-2006 There is one - Graff Zeppelin!!!! : http://www.fspassengers.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1342&pid=13715#pid13715 ( home: http://windrfters.com/ ) Post Edited ( 03-24-06 21:10 ) Re: 9 hour flight - jetdude43 - 24-03-2006 i heard somewhere that the pilatus pc-12 can, is that true? Re: 9 hour flight - ivo - 24-03-2006 Why do you need 9 hours? What's the range you need to cover? If you have tailwind, you'll be able to get a better range. Re: 9 hour flight - jetdude43 - 24-03-2006 im still looking for where im going to start and where im going to land, any ideas?, and like i already asked is it true that the pilatus pc-12 can fly for 9 hours? Re: 9 hour flight - DBE - 25-03-2006 As its max range is approx 4'000 km, I'd guess 8 hours would be pretty much as far as it could manage.. Post Edited ( 03-25-06 00:45 ) Re: 9 hour flight - poden - 25-03-2006 Probably a Pilatus PC-12 can. Its got a 2000+ NM range. Just reduce the throttle way back. It can fly as slow as 120 KTS (or even less) IAS. So there you go. Actually, you'd be surprised at how many propeller driven planes have an edurance of 9 hours or more. The Twin Otter IS pretty short ranged though. Here's some others that should fill the bill (most probably have to be configured with "max", "optional", or "reserve" fuel, and flown on pretty low power settings) Piper Malibu Mirage Beech D-18 Lake Renegade Extra 400 Beech Baron Diamond DA-42 There are plenty of others. Post Edited ( 03-25-06 01:27 ) Re: 9 hour flight - jetdude43 - 25-03-2006 so the twin otter cant fly 9 hours or can it? any other aircraft? i want to look at as many as possible and then im going to choose Re: 9 hour flight - jetdude43 - 25-03-2006 umm its been almost a day and no ansers since my last post............. Re: 9 hour flight - fruitfly - 25-03-2006 No answer??? I thought I gave you one - zeppelin! But if you want something heavyer than air, ATR should do the trick. Check out this thread: http://atr.flight1.net/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=2778&PN=1 Re: 9 hour flight - Leftcoaster - 25-03-2006 All of these propliners have 9-hours endurance or better. CalClassic DC-6B, DC-7C, B-377 Stratocruiser and Boeing 314 Clipper. JBK Short S.30, Solent and Sanderingham flying boats. George Diemer's Sikorsky VS-44 FSDZIGN's L-049 Constellation Dimitri Samborski's TU-114 On the military side the GMAX P-3C, Dave Garwood's Lancaster BIII, the GS B-29 and any accurate C-130 Hercules can fly for nine hours or better.
