Mountain Comes to Mohammed - poden - 25-01-2006

OK, I'm generally very opposed to payware, but I finally decided I had to do something after making the umpteenth flight where I almost got knocked
out of the sky by windshear. So, I finally paid for a key to FSUIPC, and it should be in my e-mail this evening. So here's my "ever-expanding" list of
payware:

FSP
FS Panel Studio
FSUIPC (as of today)
Flight One Pilatus PC-12 (which I'm not particularly fond of; I like my freeware one a lot more!)

While not technically an add-on, FS Panel Studio helps make those freeware planes a lot more enjoyable. I probably use Panel Studio as much as FSP.

For repaints I use 3 different (free, of course) paint programs (Paint, Byteforge, and Pixia), along with good old DXTBMP.

Questions

1) Is anyone using just FSP with no other addons, or none at all?

2) If you had a suggestion for ONLY ONE addon for me to consider, what would it be (i.e. what's the one you'd have to have besides FSP - yeah, sorry
there's been threads on this subject before)?

Just soliciting opinions, thanks!

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - jetBlue220 - 25-01-2006

1) I use just FSP and Active Sky 6.

2) I think it would definitely be Active Sky. I've been so impressed with that product since I bought it almost a month ago, I really love it.

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - WBHoenig - 25-01-2006

PMDG 737ng.

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - jetBlue220 - 25-01-2006

I don't think I'd ever just spend $39.95 on a single plane like that. I'm perfectly content with the freeware planes that are out there now, and I
think that things like Active Sky, Radar Contact, FSP (of course, lol), and so on are much more beneficial than one plane. Maybe it's just cause I
like flying a lot of different planes, but if I spent forty dollars on one plane, I think I'd feel like I had to always fly it. Just my opinion. Smile

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - ivo - 25-01-2006

I think either of the PMDG products or the LDS are top of the line.

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - Ryanamur - 25-01-2006

It all depends what you are looking for. I would recommend any of the following:

Radar Contact 4
Active Sky 6
Ultimate Traffic
Ultimate Terrain (USA, Canada/Alaska)
Flight Environment

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - Navymmw - 25-01-2006

PMDG 747 it is 60$ but WELL WORTH IT Worship Worship Worship check out the video
http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?showd70,4148053360,FS02240

It is my second favorite add-on behind FSP.

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - Ryanamur - 25-01-2006

Guys, didn't you noticed that he wasn't looking for a plane?

Phil

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - Airliner - 25-01-2006

I USED to use, now what was it called? AGH!!! Tha co-pilot thing where you had to go through every single checklist. Anyway - OH!
FS2Crew. That's the one. But, I kinda don't anymore. All I'm using is FsP BUT! If I were to add anything in payware, it would likely be
Radar Contact v4. Also, FSAirline but I don't need to pay for it as I'm the one writing it! Smile (cheap plug!)

I still insist on the freeware stuff as being quite satisfactory. I use PAI for traffic, plus a few others that weren't included like Comair,
Fedex, etc. I use PerfectSky and PerfectWater, plus Silverwings. And again, Ken Mitchell's panels are some of the best, along with
aircraft from SGA and IFDG. And the scenery! There's plenty of freeware there.

Personally, I've been a bit disgusted with a lot of payware that didn't live up to my expectations. but, that's just me. Smile

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - Dutch64 - 25-01-2006

Same as Phil, AS6 and RC4, makes the whole sim so much more realistic Smile

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - jboweruk - 25-01-2006

hmm 1 add-on that's a must have eh? I'll give a list of what I think in each category, you can choose easier when you know what you want.

Scenery: FSGlobal w/out a doubt
Weather: Has to be AS6, best WX program ever
Airliner: LevelD 767 no contest
Turboprop: Flight1/Dreamfleet ATR again no contest
GA twin: Dreamfleet Baron XP version
GA single: Dreamfleet Bonanza again with XP avionics suite as standard.
Airport: FlyTampa's Fly Seattle, you have to see the improvement in framerates over the default to believe it can be done.
Sky/Weather textures: FSEnvironment coupled to Activesky is even better though.
Ground textures, ah now here we have in 2 parts:
Night: Ultimate Night environment Pro
Day: FScene
but also consider Ultimate Terrain across US and Canada.

Hope this helps. Smile

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - highlander - 25-01-2006

CaptainSim's Legendary 707 (packaged as JustFlight 707 Professional on CD) is an incredible package; unfortunately, I don't think it integrates well
with FSPassengers.

The feelThere Caravan! Deluxe package is very nice, and works very well with FSPassengers.

FSUIPC is definitely recommended; I have the fully registered version.

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - runibl - 25-01-2006

I use FsP,
Active Sky 6,
PMDG 737ng/800/900,
PMDG 747-400
Level-D 767

Next to buy is Radar Contact 4, and maybe something else, but don't know what yet.

And If I should reccomend one to use it would definetly be Active Sky 6. It's a must have if you like realistic weather conditions.
Otherwise it would probably be Radar Contact 4, I don't have it yet but I hear good things about it.

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - SaVas - 25-01-2006

Active Sky 6. It hands down blows away the default or freeware weather engines / textures

Re: Mountain Comes to Mohammed - jaws1948 - 25-01-2006

No question in my mind, go get Radar Contact 4. Finally some ATC that makes sense.
