Ultimate Terrain - ivo - 14-01-2006 Is Ultimate Terrain worth the money? If so, does it decrease frame rate dramatically? Re: Ultimate Terrain - MobilePCPilot - 14-01-2006 Terrain mesh is very much worth it. Land isn't nearly as flat as FS depicts it. This really comes into effect when doing approaches in mountainous areas. I use Real Scene 2004. I didn't notice much of a FPS hit with 30 meter terrain mesh. But I didn't do a test either. -Todd Giencke Re: Ultimate Terrain - samiranks - 14-01-2006 ultermate terrain is good. also did you check http://www.simviation.com for terrain meshes. Now thats really good. You get the whole world in terrain mesh Re: Ultimate Terrain - ivo - 14-01-2006 Does it decrease frame rates? Re: Ultimate Terrain - samiranks - 15-01-2006 well i dont see alot of changes, but im operation on pent 4 ati x700 256mb with 300gigs hard drive and 2gigs of memory. on that note that might be why i dont get any frames hit.. Its worth a try though. because once you download all of the different areas for the mesh youll add it to your scenery library in one folder. so you can always delete it if thats the case Re: Ultimate Terrain - Ryanamur - 15-01-2006 Yes, UTerrain does reduce FSP. I noticed a 5-10 drop in frame rate when everything was enabled. It's definitely worth it if your PC can take it. Phil Re: Ultimate Terrain - ivo - 15-01-2006 I have: Intel Pentium 4 1gig of RAM 3.2 GHz processor 200GB hard drive ( doesn't matter at all, right??) video card: 128 MB is there anything else that might matter??? Can my PC handle it?? I think yes. Re: Ultimate Terrain - olseric - 15-01-2006 Should eat it up without issue. I have Ultimate Terrain along with FS Genesis Freeware mesh. Also if you get UT, there is a guy that redid most of the bridges in the USA so that they are repositioned correctly. Can't remember where it's at, but dig in the forums over there and you'll find the link. Donationware of $10 and well worth it. A few things with UT that you will notice: 1. Roads seem more realistic (cars, not at 60 degree banks on hillsides, etc). 2. City lights glow like they should in reality. 3. Large rivers (e.g. Mississippi River) no longer look like small streams. It does have its quirks though (like some plateau lakes here and there), but overall, much improved over default scenery. But as mentioned before, grab the mesh to add with it...either FS Genesis Payware or the Freeware stuff are recommened with it. |
