Flight1 MD-80 - CODY614 - 01-01-2006 Has anybody here got this? If so, "Does anybody here know how to fly it yet?" What ever happened to "Kick the tires light the fires and go?" I got it yesterday afternoon...Thanks honey.... ![]() I really thought the PMDG/LDS FMC stuff was a bear!.....It's taken me roughly 5+hours just to get the "Bitchn' betty" just to shut up about the flaps and gear on take-off!.....And I havent' even started on programing the Nav system yet. ![]() No wonder these things flop off into the ocean and plow off the end of runways!....If they that sensitive to trim setups.....I'll never get on one again! Anyway, Any help or tips....Etc... would be apperciated! Jeff T. Re: Flight1 MD-80 - silo - 01-01-2006 ![]() I'm gonna buy it soon! But what about the training software that comes with? The included tutorials? I've heard that it's really easy to follow and it gets you started in no time. Re: Flight1 MD-80 - silo - 01-01-2006 They say "New Integrated Cockpit Training System (ICTS) walks you through each procedure step" Re: Flight1 MD-80 - CODY614 - 01-01-2006 Yeah......But who reads the manual? All joking aside...this thing is pretty complex. I tried the Training system.....But kept having issue with the dispatch program......Did the .ini fix like they say in the forums it has some problems that they are working on in the form of a patch.....so now it runs a little better and I can start figureing this thing out. The nav system is gonna kill me! It's not like anything I've ever used. Just wondering if anybody had any pointers.....Or am I gonna be our resident lab rat? Jeff T. But who am I to judge? I don't fly it much yet. I'm busy learning to fly the ATR 72-500 right now, and after that comes the CS 727 :D Re: Flight1 MD-80 - samiranks - 01-01-2006 ive got the super 80 for a month and i havent really flown it much. yeah it walks you thru step by step, however the time it takes before you can actually get to the take off tutorial, you could have done a 20 min flight. So i dont really fly it until i have time to really get into it. Im now mastering the level d 767 which is considered my favorite over all three (PMDG SUPER80 FLIGHT1 ATR) (my opinion) Re: Flight1 MD-80 - bergm - 01-01-2006 The NAV systems aren't nearly as complex as they seem to be. You don't need most of the buttons for it to work properly. Basically, what I did to get started was to take the virtual tutorial (or whatever it's called) of the NAV systems and fiddled around with them afterwards. Took me maybe half an hour to get the hang of it. ![]() Re: Flight1 MD-80 - eazy - 01-01-2006 Quote:Nasder wrote:I agree. However, once you've learned how and where to save your flight plan and that you have to enter flight nbr, departure and destination icao into the ACARS device, the ONS isn't very complex because it loads the saved flightplan automatically. Worst thing for me is the autoflight, especially vertical speed management. Some days ago I thought I could take the risk to let some passengers aboard. As soon as I engaged AP at about 1000 AGL the plane took a nose dive scaring my pax to almost 100% ![]() After stabilizing it manually I gave it another try to climb in IAS mode with 230kts. It went straight to 300kts. Either I'm too dumb to get this right or I should wait for the second beta patch ![]() Another note: I made a payload model for the MD-80 but I have some doubts it will work ok, because the aircraft should be reloaded in FS after fuel and load setup. But FSP would not let you do this. Still don't know how to work around that ![]() The problem is that I don't know if some strange behavior is due to bugs in the panel or FDE programming or due to a bad trim setup... Re: Flight1 MD-80 - CODY614 - 02-01-2006 Eazy..... I've read in the MD-80 forum where guys are using in FSP.....But like you every time I hook the AutoPilot up it becomes it's own entity? Landing is a real treat.....Miss the trim settings and you are in for nice ride. If this is how Wilbur and Orville felt Gos bless them for not giving up! Re: Flight1 MD-80 - ivo - 02-01-2006 Quote:CODY614 wrote: I still can't get the warning sounds on takeoff to stop. She keeps saying "stabilizer trim, flaps" all the time. I still can't fly the plane because it is kind of complicated to fly. I'm good with the LDS767 and the PMDG products but this is different. And when you say flp off into the ocean and plow off the end of the runway, I know what you mean. ![]() Air Crash Investigation Re: Flight1 MD-80 - CODY614 - 02-01-2006 I got it.....Yea me.......KPHX to KABQ.....No problems! 'bergm'....was right....Once I fumbled through it 6 times it dawned on me. Just gotta remember to save the Flt plans the right way! Ivo...If you click on the Airspeed indicator a little window opens up with all the numbers....At the bottom are the Stab settings...Once you input those into the bottom of the trim on the left hand side of the throttle stand it should shut up..... Re: Flight1 MD-80 - ivo - 02-01-2006 Thanks, Cody. By the way, I just figured out I was getting about 30 FPS in the MD-80. That's a lot more than other planes. Usually I get 10 in the LDS767 and 8 in the PMDG planes when I run all the settings on the highest. Re: Flight1 MD-80 - CODY614 - 02-01-2006 I was too busy trying not to make a smoking crater to see frame rates.....I'll have to check that one out! Re: Flight1 MD-80 - silo - 04-01-2006 Oh guys this add on is amazing! I got it the other day and last night I was able to fly from KBUR to KSFO. The training center is really helpful. It gets you started in no time. However expect to spend some time on it before you can master at least the basics. I own the PMDG 737, the F1 ATR and the lvld767 and they are relatively easier although complex add on. This one makes them look like toys. I love it and I think it'll be the only plane I'll fly for a while, after they iron out some probs. Post Edited ( 01-04-06 18:46 ) Re: Flight1 MD-80 - CODY614 - 04-01-2006 Silo.... I'm still beating my head against the wall on take-off.....When I engage the Auto pilot the beast goes nut's.....I guess from the forums....I'm not the only one seeing this? How are you doing? |
