well its pay day, so thought i would waste some money, so bought the pmdg 747
and also got a 'sexy' livery for it from avsim

i am still only flying the citation, and have the 737 to learn next before i even get onto this plane, buttttt
as my title says, did i waste my money?
i have a decent enough system to run FS9 smoothly at a decent FPS, but here i am, sitting at the gates, with a frame rate of 8
it dont seem too good to me

I haven't got the 747 from PMDG (yet), but I read there's a bit of a fuzz about it (and PMDG was a little frustrated about it!!). A bunch of
people complaint about the FPS (and some other stuff aswell, but I had a few
, I can't remember).PMDG released a "patch" to fix a lot of things, but I'm not sure whether the FPS issue is adressed aswell. I dare not ask, but will

PS. I really like the 737 from PMDG, which I fly myselve. Especially the "ding/dong" buttons concerning smoking etc.
Perhaps I should start a new company: instead of Bumpy Airlines: Smoking Trails!!

i will check what version i have tomorrow (after i wait 15 minutes for it to load up
)they should offer a refund with these planes, to the cost of an ink cartrage to print out the manuals
i still have 4 hours to go before i get to the 737, and the 747 is lightyears away

As for the manuals: I print them at work. We've got a nice Xerox DP6115 (and the replacement standing ready) which is perfect for printing
out these manusls (even binding them
). Ok, billings/invoices are important, but my manuals are the second most important printed on those babes

You do have to buy with caution out there but I don't think you wasted your money PMDG has good support for their products and people
who use them seem satisfied.

I see on your picture a very nice airport with realistic gateways etc.. And also very dense AI traffic environment.
May be here you have some choices to decide between fps and grounds details.
I have a 3.2 Ghz with 1 gb RAM which is quite descent, however, I had to remove most of the enhanced airport sceneries and lower the density of
details to keep a correct frame rate when around a big airport with planes like the DF 727 or CS 707.
Also some AI planes can suck a lot of ressources. The best way to know is to monitor the fps with and without the "suspect" plane in sight.
About the livery, this one is quite interesting and creative bit I am more into oldt time traditional looking liveries because the modern tendency is
to apply a big fancy paints which "ignore" totally the plane lines which are then a bit hidden behind the livery. The plane is a bit "downgraded" as
a simple support like a wall or placard. The "old way" rather follows,underlines and enhances the original plane shapes which remains then at the
first place.
... Just my feeling anyway

Pegase, yeah its at heathrow, with traffic at 80% i think.
