Help PLease !!!! A340 - Air France - 19-09-2005

hey i just downloaded Air France A340 from Project Opensky but the problem is that it take REALLY LONG to takeoff like more then 15,000 ft Runway

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - omarza - 19-09-2005

This might sound strange as im taking another shot in the dark as I dont use the A340. Check if the throttles move forward all the way and also check
the EPR on takeoff as thats all I can think of at the moment.

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - Air France - 19-09-2005

whats the EPR??

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - SWAFO - 19-09-2005

Perhaps you have a FULL LOAD? Or, perhaps you're in excess of the MTOW?

Or, the more likely option is that it's an Airbus. Switching to a Boeing jetliner should fix your problem Wink

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - Air France - 19-09-2005

how do u do that????

BRAD I AM ANNOYED AT YOU AGAIN !!! Smile

Don't start with the fight Boeing vs Airbus.
This guy is doing well, let him flight with Airbus.

By the way, If you are flying the PSS A340 you'd better go for other aircraft cause that damn plane is too buggy!!!

I guess it is probably MTOW excess. I am with you there Brad

Make sure you don't overload the aircraft when you are in the Loading window.

Cheers!

You must know that I'm only joking around in a friendly manner. No offense is intended or conveyed. Just making sure that it wasn't
interpreted that way, because that's certainly not my intention.

EPR stands for Engine Pressure Ratio. It's a measure of engine performance (we don't use it on the modern 737's, so I can't go into too
much detail on it. I'll admit my lack of knowledge in this area Wink) I'm sure a Google search would turn up the relevant meaning of it!

What panel do you use for it? The Posky airbus is nice but only for the plane itself. I did merge it with the PSS panel as i did also with the ifdg
planes and it flies wonderful, like a real airbusWink
The PSS A340 is not that buggy, use Bob Scott's FDE files and it flies like a charm

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - olseric - 19-09-2005

If you have the Project Opensky model, you are set because there is a good reference manual included with all of the relevant charts
needed.

My suggestion would be, practice without FSP to start with by loading it up with 25% fuel, and an empty load. When you take off, set your
trim (should be almost neutral), set flaps to CONFIG 1+F (handle position 2) and keep forward pressure on the stick (buses like to get up
early) until about 80 kts, then slowly relax pressure until you're at neutral again by 100 kts. Your N1 should be around 94.1 based on the
numbers I'm about to give you below. When you rotate, DO NOT exceed 8 degrees or you will strike the tail (the big busses are very long)
and it should "jump" right up.

With the load that I've described, that should give you around 62,000 lbs of fuel (make sure that's loaded evently between and only in the
wing tanks) and a take-off weight of 340,000 lbs. At sea level, a 10 000 ft runway, and a nice, fall day (20 C), your V-speeds should be
around V1=141, Vr=155, V2=164.

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - Jetflyer - 19-09-2005

This issue has been discussed repeatedly at Project Opensky. It is nothing to do with you weight or CoG or anything, it is because the aircraft is not
trimmed properly. The plane should reach Vr in 8000-9000ft of runway, but won't takeoff until about 200Kts and 15,000ft unless trimmed correctly. Get
a good panel installed, trim up to about 6+ degrees stabiliser trim and it will takeoff when you rotate.

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - olseric - 19-09-2005

Hmm, so the error is written in the model then you're saying?

Was that corrected in a later FDE? I don't recall mine acting like that (although, I don't fly it much...usually fly the A330).

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - Jetflyer - 19-09-2005

The trim is not set properly, try holding down the trim lever AS you rotate I sometimes do that it is more effective than having to set the trim
beforehand.

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - Dutch64 - 19-09-2005

I think PSS Airbus is on sale again, you can get it for around 5 $... At least you will have one of the best panels available for the airbus
then... (And the plane itself of course but you can merge those panels with any airbus you like)

Re: Help PLease !!!! A340 - SaVas - 19-09-2005

I would think its probably a case of a full load at 100%, and or (not sure if its the same with Airbus or not as I fly Boeing, Lockheed, and M-
D) but did you set your pitch for nose up?
