Ouch, hard to believe that ATPLs would do that. That's gotta hurt a career if it turns out it was premedited

96km if at the same altitude? That seems a little far, I thought it was like 5 miles or so. Even so they shouldn't just suspend those pilots,
they should take their license away, that's downright dangerous in an airliner.

5 NM = 9.26 km... it was probably a typo... 96 NM does seem quite excessive.
