[SOLVED] FSX installer problem - Kuplo - 10-12-2007 Hi, When I go to install the retail version of FSX the install window looks like the image below. To me it shows that it's missing something where all the text should be. The game will actually install, activate and play, but when I tried to install the acceleration expansion it told me that FSX is not installed and I must install that. I just now noticed in a screenshot of another person that has an issue installing FSX that he got stopped at the screen where the game is writing information to the registry which when I installed it never says that it's writing information to the registry at all, when it's done installing, it just quits. I have windows Vista home premium 2GB RAM Nvidia 8800GTS OC 320MB video cards (2 of them in SLI) sCREENSHOT: ![]() Even though the game seems to play fine, I have a feeling that Im missing out on somethings since I don't think the install was completely finished. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times now and each time the same view of the installer comes up. I have copied all the files to a folder on my hard drive and installed from there and the same screen comes up when installing the game. Re: FSX installer problem - Kuplo - 18-12-2007 Problem solved. Short version: Reinstalled Windows Vista and then the FSX installer displayed the installation information correctly, however it never registered the game in the windows registry making the use of a 3rd party program to do so necessary. Long Version: Reinstalling Vista made the installer show the proper text in the installation, however the game never wrote the proper information to the windows registry. I had to reinstall Vista no less than 2 times because FSX was never put into the add/remove programs so I had no way to uninstall it. After a grueling weekend of screwing around with FSX and Vista I finally just said to hell with Microsoft and Vista and reinstalled Windows XP, reinstalled FSX and Accelleration and low and behold, both FSX and Accelleration show up in the add remove programs area unlike in Vista where FSX did not. So long story short, Im now back to running XP and both FSX and Accelleration show up in the add remove programs area and windows is running tight and fast as is FSX and Accelleration like they should. |
