SO ANNOYED :@ - Captain_Smith - 25-12-2006

I got FSX for christmas, and as I am typing this, the disc is in the drive. It isn't reading the disc :@ we've tried cleaning it, and even in another
computer, it just isn't reading the bloody disc. Now if it doesn't work on my brothers new computer (maybe it'll have more memory) then i'm completely
knackered, and FSX will be a waste of money. Just my luck :l

Exchange it for a new one tomorrow/wednesday from where it was purchased.

Re: SO ANNOYED :@ - Sovek - 25-12-2006

is the drive a DVD-ROM or DVD-R/DVD-RW? if not thats your problem.

Re: SO ANNOYED :@ - Captain_Smith - 25-12-2006

I don't know which drive it is.

Anyway, me and my yoke are having so much fun on 04 without FSX.

check for scratches first some drives are more sensitive than others

Re: SO ANNOYED :@ - Ceemosp - 27-12-2006

But with a brand new DVD wow

I'd return it to the shop and change it.

It's likely the drive...

I was trying desprately to get mine to instal from my CD-Rom Drive, I swear, I must've tried like, 10 times... Finally, I switched it to my CD/DVD-R
Drive and it worked perfect...

FSX ships on DVD-ROM discs. You MUST have a DVD-ROM drive in your PC (that is, any drive that is capable of reading DVDs - DVD+CDRW drives work, DVD
Writers work, and DVD-ROM drives work).

Without one, you're not going to be able to install it.

Check the face-plate of the drive - if the DVD logo is not shown there (but the CD-ROM logo or CD-RW logo is) then your drive is not compatible and
you'll need a new one. Thankfully, DVD-ROM drives are quite cheap these days, and are a sound investment - in future, more and more software titles
will distribute on DVD rather than CD-ROM. It's worth it.
