Altitude - JaguarXJ6 - 04-05-2005 Hello Dan, This looks like a very interesting and long overdue product. But I am wondering whether the program will assess the pilot's performance in relation to holding the assigned altitude (either by sensing the ATC clearance or sensing any ATC prompts when deviating from the assigned altitude)? The FS 2004 ATC instructions are written in text to the kneeboard, so it may be possible for the program to know about those instructions (even if it is not possible to know about ATC instructions from programs such as Radar Contact). (I assume that the program will be assessing performance in relation to lateral navigation, either from any flight plan filed or from ATC instructions?) I will be looking forward to your product in any event. Best wishes. Re: Altitude - djsebx - 05-05-2005 Hi, Actually, whatever is your flight plan type or software you used to build your flight plan, no matter neither if you follow or not ATC instructions from FS or Radar Contact, FSPassengers senses your aircraft location at departure and arrival only. It doesn't track your flight plan. It will also determine your cruise level, according to your flight behaviour, not according to ATC instructions, at least that's what I noticed. So you're more talking about a complete and detailed flight tracker, which FSPassenger is not at this stage. Already , it has basics features on flight tracking and it even has flight maps, but again, these don't display the flown legs but the From/To lines. Re: Altitude - DanSteph - 05-05-2005 A choice has to be made, each complete flight recorded in the database is already hugh for a record because it contain a lot of flight information, keeping flight leg while allowing to register thousand of flight would certainly fill any hard drive... FsP will penalise you already for a lot of mistake... For now as said Seb the ATC compliance isn't implemented in FsP I *may* try to do that in a future release but here's another problem: there is a lot of ATC prog around so, wich one should I follow !? This isn't so simple as you see... Anyway the Fs ATC bugged me and I don't like that something resist to me ![]() so I may try again just for the sport (I let it drop for now because it took me too long and I can't loose one month for just one feature) Dan Post Edited ( 05-05-05 02:06 ) Re: Altitude - JaguarXJ6 - 05-05-2005 Thank you for your prompt and honest answers which have better informed me about the upcoming product. Re: Altitude - Big Vern - 06-05-2005 I tend to use the FS ATC but of course there are issues when using third party FMC's that the ATC doesn't match the course programmed into the FMC. I think the FS ATC is a bit of an issue with Airliner Pilot as that does track your adherence to waypoints, so if you try and use ATC you get marked down for deviating from the flight path. With a product like FsP it's probably best leaving it to the pilot how they get from A to B - whether using ATC or an FMC plan, nav beacons or (lazy !!) GPS course. |
