Everything sounds great here Dan.

to those who have complained - remember that warping is (as Dan said) a gamer's cheat, and therefore unrealistic. It is up to the player
to use, in the same way the player can disable some of the penalties, can control failures manually etc. It all depends on how realistic the
player wants to be (eg realistic transponder with emergencies, realistic light penalty etc.)

so I think it's perfectly reasonable to give the player the choice every time they start a flight.

Now that's excellent news again with the loading of the previous flight directly from FSX menu. FSX loading times are so awful that it's really
welcome not to have to load several times Smile And everything that saves time is welcome when you're trying to take off that plane while the diner is
cooking :p

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - DanSteph - 06-03-2008

Right also.

I think this is a great new feature.
I tried before FsP to make an "africa tour" with a DC3 and Fs2004, I ended with dozen saves, very annoying to manage.
With FsP and a fleet of 10-15 aircraft it become really bad for peoples that like to "continue" their flight from same place.

With this new feature you can for example have several "tour" by aircraft type: one that visit asia, another one that make small tourist flight
in mountains, a bush aircraft that delivers goodies, a Jet that make commercial flight in america, another one that make a world tour etc
etc. I'm sure that many peoples that loaded a standard situation and just changed the plane and sometime warped to a new place will
now enjoy to continue their flight and make their fleet advance in the world.

Hi Dan / All !

I'm deeply sorry but that's an autoland bug if it land you at 800-900FPM, in reality autoland don't touch so hard.
Structural limit of most modern aircraft is about 10FPS (600FPM) and damage can occure at 12FPS (720FPM)
so it would absolutely be unrealistic to allow "normal landing" at -900FPM or even 700.
FARS (Federal aviation rules) 25.473 http://www.flightsimaviation.com/data/FARS/part_25-473.html 10FPS (600FPM)

Quote:Today real life prefers ILS full auto landing than manual for security reasons and reduce risks.

They still do manual landing most of time, reason is training. One don't want a pilot that must face problem and land a plane that he didn't
landed himself since long time because of autoland Wink

Well Dan don't be sorry it's not your part if FSX have some f.ckin' bugs !! Wink
I know that real life requires a low FPS/FPM to land but as I saw the "bug" in FSX I've prefered to tell you about it.

But that's right it's another disputed point (I think) because of it should be pretty hard to find the midrange between full realistic
parameters and simulated ones taking part of the sim bugs !

Concerning auto/manual landings I've read somewhere that "official aviation institutions" would like that all commercials flights land in
full auto and are driving actions in this way because the "machine" is more regular and reliable than human.
But I can't give any credits or not to this because It couldn't be really verified.

And of course there is no way to think that the pilote would not be able to land in manual because the machine is not THE way for 100%
safe landings just because it depends of electric power so it could run/break out and human remains the over all solution.

By the way no problem with that Dan and I'm sure that the 4th dimension of FSX, FSP X, would be great and a must one that I can no
longer fly without !!! Smile

Have a nice day with lot of fun,
See ya soon,
Cheers,
Laurent

In real life the answer is up to airlines and aircraft certification but I would say anyway that autoland are rare.
for what I've heard FedeX for exemple require one autoland at least every 30 days. All others landing are made manually. 95% of landing are manual anyway because one don't want a "button manager" in cockpit but a trained pilot, the only way to train is to practice again and again manual landing. For the same reason one autoland every 30 days (in VFR) is required so they don't loose the practice of autolanding if wheater condition really require it. (CATIII)

Don't forget that autoland is designed for poor visual condition not strong wind cross landing for example, I doubt any system would have
been able to manage this: Smile

Good pilot job but just after "realigning" there was a strong rafale, nothing to do but to abort landing. (one wing touched ground but with
minor damage)

Hi res photo of the wing that touch:

So you won't be wrong by landing manually most of time. This is what pilot do in reality.
For CATIII I disengage autopilot just before flare and the touch is always smooth.

With FSX autolanding at high FPM ... question- Is that in most realistic FSX mode? Have you tried to adjust realism? Just a thought.

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - ameval - 06-03-2008

Great Job on the updates Dan,
About the autoland topic, I only use it in CATIII and actually it should only be use in this conditions...
if is CATI I disengage the autopilot whenever I be 5 or more miles away... Wink

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - m0thm - 06-03-2008

maybe its the Glider pilot in me but i also tend to fly my approach visual from as sson as i can see the runway obviously in CATIII that means im
almost right on top of it. Odd for someone who loves electronics and computers etc i just dont trust them to land me!!

Yes I've seen the video on the TV news ! Really amazing !!!
What I don't understand here is why this one absolutely want to land on this airport while all others aircrafts have been diverted !
The TV news didn't tell more about that and just distribute the video.

But no way ! This is not the place to discuss about that !! Wink

Nice day to all !
See ya soon,
Cheers,
Laurent

An investigation is in progress to clarify why they had to land on this runway with heavy crosswind instead of an another runway with low crosswinds.

So great !! Really would like to know what happen !!
Surely something bad but probably not a fuel trouble otherwise it's absolutely crazy to take the risk to land there knowing the meteo and
the high probability to have to re-gaz ! It took around 10 minutes to the plane to make an other runway approach and landing so if it is a
fuel trouble it should have been better to go on an other airport !...

Well ReaperX let us know what happen if you get some infos after the investigation !! Smile

For Dan :

An other point for you ! I didn't remember if we talk about it yet.

Something very bad in X Pax : when you change your FL (ATC order or your own choice) and in particular when you go on a lower level, X
Pax is considering that you begin the descent !!
As you understand it's not the begin of the descent if you just change your FL.
X Pax decides it itself and there are no way to correct it.

As I know you are the best Dan ( Wink ) I think that you manage the flight "steps" in a great way.
Maybe a solution should be an activation via the seat belt / no smoking lights.

All right ! If something else come back into my holed memory I will post again... Smile

See ya soon
Cheers
Laurent

as in the thread of Wally, we should just make another thread just for the Updates of Dan and this one for the "good jobs" and "keep
it up" Big Grin
