Re: Sound Problems - silo - 02-08-2005

Could it be that he's using an add on airport and the sounds he hears are the ones FSP makes when you taxi outside the taxiway (on the
grass?). I know it's a longshot...

Re: Sound Problems - SWAFO - 02-08-2005

That's what I initially thought silo. Pretty unlikely though since the noise is continuing. Perhaps, to free up some CPU load you could run
msconfig and get rid of a lot of your start up items, also, make sure you run FS on a fresh boot. Works for me with no problems.

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 02-08-2005

yeahi already do that msconfig thing with the start up items off, and i (unfortunately) dont have any add-on airports cuz i am a poor 17 high
school senior saving up to go to North Dakota to learn to fly, it'll pay off, ha ha, ill get back 2 u bout turnin off those items. thanx

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 02-08-2005

Well, i did what almighty said, it worked for a while but once i got in the air i got a small continuous crackling, im gonna try again and keep
testin it out to find out, or else ill jus go to my local pc place and see if they can get it 2 work.

Re: Sound Problems - Almighty1va - 03-08-2005

Sry that my suggestion couldn't help you out completly, but yeah atleast it helped a little, as for the crackling sounds once your in the air...im not
exactly sure on how to help you there, I found my way out because for awhile my sound wasn't working (crackling, and just plain ugly noises coming
from my speakers...) for many
games I had. As for your sound problem, well...I can't really say at this point Wonder

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 03-08-2005

Do you think it is actually worth buying new speakers or is it a card/driver more problem and speakers won't matter.

Re: Sound Problems - SE-TMA - 03-08-2005

See if you can borrow other speakers from somewhere and test. Maybe a friend or someone like that. At least you won't waste any money by doing that.

Re: Sound Problems - SWAFO - 03-08-2005

I bought a 5.1 Surround system, and a SB Audigy 2ZS. Quite a good investment. Cost me about $450 though, and I realize at your age
you might not have a lot of cash to throw around. I use it for playing back music, DVD's, and other games, and it works great. Maybe you
could consider upgrading, as prices across the board are dropping quite rapidly.

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 03-08-2005

But the thing is my card isn't that bad, it's pretty standard. just my speakers.

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 04-08-2005

Well i tried different speakers today and it worked while i was in external mode, once i went to cockpit, all hell was unleashed, Dan,
unfortunately i think this is a bug because from the sounds of it, a few other people had this problem, and this ONLY occurs when trieing
to play FSP.

Re: Sound Problems - Pierino - 04-08-2005

Did you ever try to play around with the sound volume settings in Windows (not FSP)?
Maybe lowering the wav volume helps?!

Did you ever test your sound settings with dxdiag?!

Sorry, just my 2 cents, no further ideas

Pierino

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 04-08-2005

I messed with dxdiag, and well, i lowered any sound enhancements that are in FS, but like GPWS, and crew and what not are there kind
of for a reason yea know, thats the point of FSP, those sounds.

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 05-08-2005

I dunno anymore, i de-fragged the computer, and got close but once i change views a few times it starts up again, tried new speakers,
goddamnit, i wanted to actually buy fsp 2.

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 06-08-2005

Alright Dan, i bought a new soundcard the SB Audigy 2 Value Card, if this doesnt work, ill flip out, seriously

Re: Sound Problems - sjwk - 12-08-2005

bah. mine's started doing this now, but I think I know why. I've just reinstalled everything: OS, FS, FSP... and I left the soundcard (SB Live)
using the stock Microsoft drivers rather than spending weeks trying to coax the Creative website to give me the drivers. I'm guessing the Microsoft
drivers can't handle things as well as the Creative ones. The problem seems to start when it's trying to play several sounds at once - taking off and
switching views, with the tower talking over the radio, and a thunderstorm outside...

Steve.
