Re: FsPassengers is updated often... - gjpollitt - 10-05-2006 there must be an update planned, why post saying you intend to release an update soon if your not? maybe its best, as other payware companies do, not to give any release dates or plans for future as such so people cant quote you and expect something which you quite obviously are not going to give. I'm with you on this one needle ! oh and stop kissing dans' arse, the majority of the posts on this forum are really cheesy. Still you can find on this forum some uncensored critics, rough bashing and even somes violent attacks against me or FsP. Other may simply delete post that may hurt their business I choosed not to do so because this is my life's policy. I preffer to argu. Coming from freeware world I was very suprised to see how the price of a dinner at restaurant can render some people really uncivilised. Luckily it's only a very few and I learned to live with that. (this is not directed toward you at all, you should have to review some mails I received to see how it can turn really mad sometime) So maybe people are cheesy because they are satisfied ? ![]() Also FsP received a lot of cheer and good review so I really think that it's a good product yet. Anyway if you feel disatisfied with FsP yet I'm ready to answer your questions. This is just plain rude. I, along with many others, support and appreciate the hard, and great work Dan did to provide us with a GREAT product. If this is "cheesy" and butt-kissing, then so be it. :buttkissing: Again, IMHO, Dan owes us nothing more. He made a great product, and it runs great for me...over 175 hours now. I am pleased with it, and I don't need an update. Dan can and does a great job defending himself, but I find it very pathetic that Dan has to waste his time to post a respond to people who just will not be satisfied AKA: the "give me more than I paid for / nothing is good enough" people. Again, This product is for FS9 aka: FS2004. Dan never stated it will run for FSX, who knows yet. If Dan decides to not provide an update, that is his right. FSP runs great, and why should he provide more features for free? Signed: A proud FSP user :::getting off my soapbox::: Post Edited ( 05-10-06 06:44 ) Re: FsPassengers is updated often... - gjpollitt - 10-05-2006 Boston youve just proved my point, put your tongue away Apologies Dan, I wasnt being rude or intending to be.I bought your product not long after it was released and I havent had a single problem that I am aware of. Your support along with your beta testers is fantastic from what Ive seen on here. I'll admit that I am satisfied with your product as it is. What people need to realise is that this is a payware product. Its ok to ask for new features etc Its for the developer to decide if he/she wants to implement them. As its payware then I would expect bugs to be fixed. If it was freeware then you take a chance when you use the product and live with it if it doesnt work. I think questions for the dev team should be answered by the dev team. Regards Post Edited ( 05-10-06 14:07 ) Re: FsPassengers is updated often... - pegase - 10-05-2006 Quetion about FSX and backward compatibility I understood that you prefere to wait FSX beeing released to check if you can without trouble make FsPassengers compliant to it, which seems wise. Now I wish to know if you will take care of backward compatibility, in a simple question: "will the next release(s) STILL be compatible with FS9 ?" As you can guess, beside FS9, I have a whole set of software making my "flight environment" like FSNavigator, Active Sky, Radar Contact, FSinn for network flight and Lot of planes. This means that I won't jump on FSX immediately but first make sure, I can run it in good condition on my hardware and, if the features provided in my add ons are not uncluded in FSX box, wait until these add ons get FSX compliant. So, more likely, It will be something about one year between the first release date and the moment when I "migrate" to FSX. This is why I really hope the next upgrade(s), free or not, will still be FS9 cmpliant. I totally agree with Boston Quote:Again, This product is for FS9 aka: FS2004. Dan never stated it will run for FSX, who knows yet. If Dan decides to not provide an Today, FsP in its current release fully provides what is promised. I did not have any tech issue with it, it is as "bugfree" than a software can be. I mean by this that the remaining bugs like the 100 h maintenance reset by 25 h are not pivotal issues) Then the main reasons for further release are additionnal features. All this means work. As you are the one doing this work Dan, You are the only one up to decide on what condition. As well on my side I am the only one up to decide if I would buy these new features or keep on living with what I have today. No butt-licking or cheesy post, it just telling that I simply have got all what I payed for. Should we refuse applauses to an artist after the concert just because we payed the ticket ? btw, a little remind of my little wishlist : ![]() - Make the dialog boxes, kneeboard and manifest movable (it's annoying to cancel a loading simply because the data needed to fill in the fuel load or flight time is hidden behind the fixed FsP dialog box) - Penalties configuration by plane instead of global (ex: A Caravelle does not have strobes, a PSS a340 switches off the landing light as soon as the gears are up, Concorde without flaps etc...) Re: FsPassengers is updated often... - DanSteph - 10-05-2006 As for this question I can't answer yet. I'll not be too technichal but even if almost all the functions that communicate with Fs9 are clearly separated (hence can be easily modified) there is too much things that are dedicated to Fs9, too many line involved that may work only on Fs9. So now this depend again from FsX, if the difference is very minimal it would be easy to work on a version that can be compiled either with Fs9 or Fsx , this would make two versions that have about the same features possible. But on the other side even small change in FsX may render the whole system completely unusuable and would require a complete rework of thousand line, in this case it would be really a pain or even impossible to maintain both version. In this case each hours on FsP"x" would need to be backuped by one hours of work on FsP"9" to maintain it leveled. Doing a project as FsP was not an easy task maintening such two project in same time may be really difficult or even impossible. If I remember well anyway same feeling was around about Fs2004, most people said they will never upgrade but 6 month later Fs2002 was almost dead with a few users remaining. By the time an FsP"x" would be out eventually (if it require a lot of work) FsP"9" version may be obsolet and not really wanted anymore. In brief: I don't know yet. But I'll try my best IF something is possible I'll do it. I would even tell that I WILL upgrade (Inch' Allah). But I will do it when it will offers at least as much as I have with FS2004 with it's third party, add ons and planes and the computer fitting th requirement.. This is why I bet it will not be one day or one week after the first release but rather about one year later About the fact you cannot promise anything today as FSX does not exits yet... it seems solid logic ![]() |
