Re: What's your rank? - poden - 21-10-2005

Currently I think I'm a C6. I've restarted my company once, so haven't gotten any higher. I decided I wanted to restart wth the minimum size company
for more of a challenge. Doesn't really matter though. I'm going to do a world tour flight in a Pilatus PC-12, and will probably have a rank all out
of proportion with the plane by the time I'm done.

Re: What's your rank? - Cydon Prax - 21-10-2005

I have a C9 with 18,000 Penalty points, and about 140 something hours

Re: What's your rank? - Clearjet - 21-10-2005

Hmmm... some of the ranks in signatures here look a bit inflated compared to the screenshots...

Big Grin

Re: What's your rank? - Jetflyer - 21-10-2005

That's because people have updated their signatures to what they are since posting them...................

Re: What's your rank? - Nick75 - 21-10-2005

Ive just started all over again, but this time in just economy mode, without career mode enabled. I think FSPassengers is much more
enjoyable when you aren't restricted to what type of aircraft you can fly IMO. It would take me literally months to reach the stage where I
could fly the jet aircraft, and to be honest I just couldnt hack flying the Worry Mooney Bravo any longer...lol

I think I was simply taking on too much by selecting career mode originally (my mistake!), and didnt realise quite how difficult it would be.
Yet it seemed an interesting concept in theory, hence the reason for me opting for it originally. Yet if you're still a pretty crap virtual pilot like myself Smile it just hinders your enjoyment of FSP IMO. And yes, to some it MAY be a breeze reaching the higher ranks in career mode...but
for others it certainly isn't. It would be nice to have a compromise in this aspect of FSP, whereby you could maybe recruit more
experienced pilots through having to buy them and pay their wages regularly, naturally with them costing more the higher they're ranked.
Understandably though, that would no doubt create a lot of work to implement.

I think that would however bridge what is IMO a HUGE gap between the difficulty of economy + career mode and just economic mode on
its own. It would be nice if a more intermediate mode (i.e. which includes the 'buying pilots' idea could be introduced, whereby the more
novice virtual pilots like myself could still be able to bring 1 or 2 pilots up through the ranks from scratch, but at the same time still be able
to enjoy using FSP with flying the bigger planes as well through being able to recruit more experienced pilots). At the end of the day, I don't think many people want to have to struggle for a couple of months with having to fly Cessnas everywhere. That's where the over-emphasis on realism is a bad thing IMO. It's a shame that the lesser-skilled virtual pilots have to struggle like this in the career mode, meaning that some of us maybe can't fully enjoy this mode because of this. At least not until a number of months down the line! At the end of the day, I think the IDEA of a career mode IS very nice and very enticing...I'd choose that over just the economy mode on its own if I had the choice...but the current way the career mode works doesn't really give me this choice IMO unless I put in a long hard slog in the GA planes to get through the ranks (and personally I prefer flying the faster & larger aircraft anyway...and I'm sure there are a number of FSP users in a similar situation out there). Also, some of us just don't have a great amount of time on our hands to reach the higher ranks in only a month or two. And I do think that is an important point in this regard also.

Anyway, that's just my own honest opinion. I still think FSP is excellent in just the economy mode, don't get me wrong. IMO it's just a shame some of us may not be able to enjoy the career mode (i.e. FSP in all its glory) as much as others.

Re: What's your rank? - Jetflyer - 21-10-2005

I agree. That's how I fly. I could already fly the jets anyway, so no problem! Economy mode is cool, just watch your money grow Cool

Re: What's your rank? - jope-dope - 25-10-2005

just got promoted to c11, because of excellent flight performance Smile

Re: What's your rank? - SaVas - 25-10-2005

Im just shy of C19 now, and could be C20 if it werent for the fact that I save the flights that "arent so good" lol I think I have right around
650 hours

Re: What's your rank? - pegase - 25-10-2005

I am totally wow and Applause for these high rank and the flying hours they imply with FsP. I have FsP since it's public "birth", wonder about all
the time I spend flight simming and I am just c9 since Saturday !! However I am very proud to be called "captain" Cool

Nick Barnes
Manchester, U.K.

I understand this, Nick. When FsP was released, I was in a world tur with my beloved VC10 and it was simply out of concern to leave her for a Cessna
or Money Fool

So I started in default economy mode. just a choice to make. It would off course be nice to have the enjoyment of career mode and, also having the
choice for any plane Wink We call this "Avoir le beurre et l'argent du beurre et... la fermière" which means something like "Getting the butter while
keeping the money of the butter and... date the Lady farmer ". Cool

Well, this can be possible (for example if you become the gentleman farmer).

In FsP, may be this butter/money balance could be translated as something like

-Create a pilot,
-Hire him in a company in economic only mode as long as your favorite planes would be out of rank in career mode.
-When the pilot gets by flight hours and bonus a satisfying rank, transfer him in a career mode company.

Re: What's your rank? - SaVas - 25-10-2005

I figure once I reach C23 I will make a new pilot and company that has a 1x modifier starting with maybe 10K (thinking my pilot started his
own tundra/bush company with a little pocket change) and enjoy flying small planes again around PNW/AK/Canada with home bases
being Chelan with short hops to and from Emma, Chelan, Strom, Qualcom, Diamond Point and maybe a few airports I create with FSE.
