Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - DanSteph - 05-03-2008 UPDATE: About "no warp feature" (aircraft start from last end of flight location) Wow... this one gave me an hard time. I tried several code then changed back etc etc... I think I get it now, simple, functionnal, that will please anyone. With company in economical mode every time you buy an aicraft or register a FsP flight it's location is saved. So you can start your new flight from the last position. At first I tried to put this as an option then in company's setting but there was several problems, So finally I put it here: ![]() You can use it or not at any time. "Warp" if you want or strictly restart next flight from last flight's position. Weather, season stay the same as current, but you can choose the local time (it ended to much time by night with plane in every corner of world) ![]() As it's FsX flight save, normally your aircraft must restore exactly as it was during the last flight or when you bought it. I used to go back to FS9 to fly FS passengers, but I really like FSX much better - it's just missing my passengers Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Aksakhirn - 05-03-2008 Hi Dan / All !! Long time no post for me ! Too much work those times and I was just be able to come to see and read the news very quickly. I've found 5 minutes today so I take the time to make a post ! Well first Dan I just would like to congratulate you about all the new stuffs for FSP X !!! It will be so so great !!!! I think it will just be the 4th Dimension of FSX !!! I profit of this post for a little question Dan. As I've told some monthes ago I've tried X Pax, wich is not a good one (in my opinion) and I don't have been satisfied with it. And flying with it I've noted something about landing that I think it was a little bit excessive : when you land in full auto (ILS + auto-pilot) you used to land with a sink rate around - 700 / 900 fts / min , maybe it's often - 900 fts / min. We can of course do better in manual landing but sometimes the meteo make it impossible and we have to land in full auto. I've replayed lots of auto-land and even if the sink rate is a little bit high for a "kiss landing" it makes some very pretty good landings. The fact is that in X Pax there was a trigger @ - 700 fts / min and if you land over this sink rate you take some bad points with a very hard penalty. Here it is ! I think that you've made something like that in FSP X, wich is great, but I hope that you don't trigger the S.R. too low / little. - 800 or - 900 fts / min seem to be a good middle point. Maybe manual landings should give a "100%" points when an auto-landing could be around "80%" because of this quiet hard contact. But never forget that full auto is used to be done when meteo conditions are fighting against our lives so it's important to mastered an auto-landing. What do you think about this point Dan ? And you, pilots ? What do you plan in FSP X Dan ? Well ! I wish you all some nice flights, Have good times with lot of fun ! ;o) See ya soon, Cheers, Laurent Post Edited ( 03-05-08 10:02 ) Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Urthgental - 05-03-2008 Hi Dan, what i like most in FSPassengers is that you are forced to be accurate in every phase of the flight, this creates the fantastic atmosphere. Therefore i am not a friend of being able to decide on 'warp or not to warp' at any time. I would prefer even an own 'Realistic aircraft movements' mode when creating a company and when selecting this mode the option to 'load current aircraft at current location' is gone. If you make the 'warp' too easy to overcome or there is no penality in doing so, the effect is gone... Regards, Heiko @ Laurent: This is similar to the overspeed problematic. I think it's up to Dan to decide about the rules when and how to set penalties. Of course it would be cool to have different 'realistic' modes, but i personally never missed this... Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - ReaperX - 05-03-2008 Hi, I got a little idea (I don't know if the same idea was postet earlier) while I'm redesigning my VA website. It would be great if possible to integrate an option to send the flight logs to a custom server an let handle the logs the va's themself in FsPX and (per Service Pack) in FsP2004. I'm sorry if its got that functionality allready. :-D Then I would be great if somebody can tell me where to find it. Quote:Urthgental wrote: Yes of course you're right it's up to Dan to fix the rules. I've told him (and all of you) about this particular point because I've experienced it with X Pax and I think it was a little bit excessive. I have to say that I was feeling quiet frustrated to make a good flight and take some hard penalties because of a landing @ 800 fts/min while the landing was very correct. Today real life prefers ILS full auto landing than manual for security reasons and reduce risks. And so that makes me think that X Pax is not enough tolerant and doesn't take care enough to the real flights. So here it is more a feed back about some points that scared me in others solutions than a suggestion ! Dan remains the master of course and be sure I will use FSP X even if it will be hard with us sometimes !!... ![]() See ya soon ! Structural limit of most modern aircraft is about 10FPS (600FPM) and damage can occure at 12FPS (720FPM) so it would absolutely be unrealistic to allow "normal landing" at -900FPM or even 700. They still do manual landing most of time, reason is training. One don't want a pilot that must face problem and land a plane that he didn't landed himself since long time because of autoland ![]() Quote:Urthgental wrote: Well that was my first idea but there is several technical problem to this (I worked 4-5 days on this trying several different option) one is that a bad save can without any reason penalise you because you could not fly this aircraft anymore. (but this is not the only one) Also FSP most time penalise you for pilot error, "warping" aircraft is not a pilot error but a gamer's cheat ![]() Also as it is now player are completely free to follow a strict realistic behaviour while still "warping" a bit when something difficult and unrealistic occure that would make you hangry if you cannot disable it. Another reason is this feature's visibility and simplicity. As load flight take time and render FsP more complicated to understand for newbies I planned to disable this feature by default. But I was worried that most player might then miss it. As it is now it's a win/win situation, It's very visible, nobody is forced to use it, but anyone can use it at anytime. (A fixed company setting would not allow that) Appart the realism such feature is really cool because you don't have to manage anymore ton of save situation yourself if you want to follow a path with your aircraft. *Only* negative point: now you must buy your aircraft landed and stopped. (I don't recall buying much in flight plane anyway) Dan Post Edited ( 03-05-08 18:00 ) Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Urthgental - 05-03-2008 Hi Dan, if there a technical reasons, then by no question you are absolutely right. However, from a gameplay point of view i disagree. If you compare this to other elements in there is also no 'well the money is a little difficult, next aircraft is for free'... Concerning newbies, i don't think somebody would not understand this if selected in the beginnning. For the flight sim community the 'free flight' mode is of course common. However, in a career mode, i consider it natural that my personally owned aircraft is at a specific location and if i want to have it at different location, i have to fly there ;-) Anyway, I don't want to nag around, just some constructive discussion. I'm happy that you include this cool feature and hope things are in good progress... Regards, Heiko Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Flying Monkey - 05-03-2008 In my opinion, the way you implemented it is great Dan, it does the job very well! Now we will this additional functionnality. I don't care if I have to choose it from career menu or at every flight as long as it's there it's all win win. (Anyway, I can easily imagine cases where I will be happy not to use it. But the point is that even if you always want to use it, well you can). Let's not forget after all that these are additional functionnalities to an addon that already has the record of combining the most impressive number of functionnalities. Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - DanSteph - 05-03-2008 Right, win/win... ![]() UPDATE: FsP will save also the "last flight saved" in "my registered flight" of FsX, so when you start FsX you don't need to start with another situation and then reload the correct one with the "no warp" dialog. Minor update: when restoring you can choose local time, Now the "hour" combo box (see dialog above) allow also to leave current local time without change. All that seem to work flawlessly... I'll process to next feature. Dan |
