Re: Blowing tires on every landing - Powerke - 11-09-2009

What if Dan fixes this topic ???

Will this thread die ??
Will the players be happy ??

I think its kinda funny to see to pro-fix ppl against the die hard simmers.

Need to make a party more exiting ....want some action ....pop some virtual rubber and your wishes come true!!!

Give the ppl a fix....
Give the simmers a supah hard mode where you have to land under 75 FPM or the tires will pop.

Everybody happy .....yeeeeeeeeh , kudos to me ....i am so awesomelol

I can guarentee as soon as this options done more of these "customers" will be comming out asking for more, more more.

Re: Blowing tires on every landing - Powerke - 13-09-2009

Well Sky you must admit that the tire blowing issue has been a problem since FSPX has been released.

I have had tires pop with landings of 320 fps...thats a bit sensitive in my book.

But i dont mind anymore ....i went back to FS9 ...and you can practically nosedive your plane in to the tarmac
before a tire pops Big Grin

FSX crashes too easy on my system...and the tire blowing problem has actually improved my landing skills.
But not everybody uses a joystick or flight yoke...i know 2 ppl that use mouse and keyboard to fly in FSX

I am sure if Dan gets this fixed one way or another ...that there will be more happy players.
Not everybody is a hardcore virtual pilot...
There are casual players too....ppl that like the idea of running a virtual airline..managing planes..playing with
foodprices....the total feel.
I dont see the big harm in this fix/update/patch ...and maybe ....maybe ...this thread will actually die.

Re: Blowing tires on every landing - Tracker801 - 13-09-2009

erm
The general issue at large here is: people think they can fly but they can't, especially not the landing part....
If I land my RL plane above 450 fpm you can bet it needs to be checked out. Have to concur it will not blow a tire that fast but this is a
simulator, not the real thing.
Quit complaining and learn to land properly. Just be glad Dan will make it optional for those of you who just cant seem to get a hang of it
all.
On a personal note I can say when I get bored with the usual landings, I 'accidentally' land harder Wink

No, I am not a hard-core virtual pilot..... I have more hours in real planes than I do on FS LOL
Combined I outnumber the top 10 of you all combined LMAO

Just have fun with the sim and program ladies and gents. That is what is was created for.

Re: Blowing tires on every landing - airmiles - 14-09-2009

I have recently started using FSPX along side FSP and after 11 flights have not blown a tire, the theory I use is to always land drunk!! No
not really as many others have stated it's all practice if in doubt go around and try again.

As for Trackers most recent post 100% agree Smile

Re: Blowing tires on every landing - HB-100 - 14-09-2009

I am one of them that don't like this tire blow.

I made only a few flights with FSPX and in my last I forced the wilco A320 downward to avoid a go around You know that wilco A320 has a very nasty unnatural
behaviour to stay in the air at all cost when you want to land it.

I touched with -403 fpm and the tire blew and I was about "What!!?!?!? "
But the plane was still rolling and I said "Tire blew? " and I bite on my teeth "Ok, ok..acknowledged I will pay a new tire."

But then... the plane stopped in the middle of the runway and an emergency sounds and every drama played on and what was worst. the plane became
unmoveable. And I again: "What!?!?!? Unmoveable by a blown tire?"

And this then was the end of my flying with FSX. It bugged me.
My freedom to do hard landings at will has gone! Cry

I wonder when you have a gear not down emergency and you do this hard touch procedure...will then the tire blew? I mean you have to do that a good way above -
400fpm at least so it was in the FS2004 FSP. Consequently the tire then has to blew!!

I believe Iberia needs a big stock extra tires when tires blow at -400fpm. If you want to feel a landing fly Iberia. Boy they land!

Tire blew is fine but I agree make it possible to disable. Even better would be if the limit could be set. I would like to have it at -500fpm because my intended hard
landing frame is between -400 and -500fpm. And best would be when you still can taxi to the gate. In RL I boarded a big comercial jet plane with a blown tire once
and I don't think the tire blew during taxing or durign stand still.

Re: Blowing tires on every landing - SkyAirWorld - 14-09-2009

I'd be rather worried if my FS time was out logging my RL flying.

Re: Blowing tires on every landing - damocles - 14-09-2009

HB-100, That was probably not to do with landing but to do with poor inflation prior to take off.

It's a 'failure' and not much can be done about it. What did the report say?.....if you get a 'go around' you should follow it ;D :D ;D

There should be a penalty for not complying with ATC commands.

Re: Blowing tires on every landing - whiskey-zulu - 14-09-2009

HB-100, what you have there does sound like a failure attributed to your failure setting and not the landing as I believe that in FSX the blow tire
limit is somewhere between -500 and -600 fps. I land pretty hard at times - anything up to -500 fps (sometimes over if I'm in a heavy that is being
stroppy with me) and I've yet to blow a tire.

Damocles: the ATC in FSX is rubbish, so if there was a penalty for not complying, then everyone would be penalised. One flight I did from KSFO to
PHNL, the default ATC wanted me to circle one particular VOR beacon halfway between KSFO and PHNL( they kept directing me to turn this way and that
way over it), but I flew on regardless and had a perfect landing (and flight).
